What is SSC CGL?
SSC CGL is a national-level exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to shortlist candidates for Group B and C posts in various ministries/ departments/organizations of the Government of India. In 2019, total 34 Group B and C posts have been released by the commission. Every year, about 30 lakh candidates fill the SSC CGL application form and about 15 lakh aspirants appear for the exam. The exam is conducted in four stages called tiers. The first two tiers of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam are conducted in online mode. The next two tiers of the exam are held in offline mode.

SSC CGL Recruitment 2019
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam for the recruitment of Grade “B” and “C” category posts in various Government Ministries, Departments and Offices. The exam is held in 4 stages called Tiers. While the first two are online the latter two are offline exams. The entire process of registration and communication happens online through the official website of SSC CGL. Candidates must qualify each stage of the SSC CGL exam to proceed to the next one, before being finally selected.
SSC CGL Selection Process
SSC CGL 2019-20 Examination will be conducted in four tiers as indicated below:
1.1 Tier-I: Computer Based Examination

1.3 Tier-III: Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive paper)
1.4 Tier-IV: Computer Proficiency Test/ Data Entry Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification
• All candidates who have applied successfully for SSC CGL 2019-20 exam, will be assigned Roll numbers and Admit Card for appearing in the Computer Based Examination (Tier-I).
• Based on the marks scored in Tier-I, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Tier-II and Tier-III Examinations.
• Separate cut-offs will be fixed for Paper-III of Tier-II (i.e. for the post of JSO and Statistical Investigator Grade-II), Paper-IV of Tier-II (i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer) and for Paper-I + Paper-II of Tier-II (i.e. for all other posts).
• Tier-II and Tier-III Examinations will be conducted for all the candidates qualified in Tier-I.
• In Tier-II, all the candidates will be required to appear in Paper-I and Paper-II. However, only specific candidates shortlisted for the posts of JSO/ Statistical Investigator and Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer will be required to appear in Paper-III and Paper-IV respectively.
SSC has introduced minimum qualifying marks in SSC CGL 2019-20 Exam. Minimum qualifying marks in Tier-I, each Paper of Tier-II and Tier-III Examination are as follows:

TIER-I OF THE EXAMINATION :
A.
General Intelligence &
Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal
type. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities
and differences, spatial visualization,
spatial orientation, problem
solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination,
observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural
classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and
decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc.
B.
General Awareness :
Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness
of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will
also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of
every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be
expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating
to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to sports,
History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian
Constitution, scientific Research etc. These Questions will be such that they
do not require a special study of any discipline.
C.
Numerical Aptitute : The
questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers
and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be the
computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions and relationships between
numbers. It will test sense of order among numbers, ability to translate from
one name to another, sense or order of magnitude, estimation or prediction of
the outcome of computation, selection of an appropriate operation for the
solution of real life problems and knowledge of alternative computation
procedures to find answers. The questions would also be based on arithmetical
concepts and relationship between numbers and not on complicated arithmetical
computation (The standard of the questions will be of 10+2 level).
D.
English Comprehension :
Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and
writing ability, etc. would be tested.

Tier-II of the Combined Graduate Level Examination -2010will be of
Objective Type Multiple Choice and will be conducted over two days during a weekend. It will consist of three different papers/subjects and depending upon the category of posts applied for, the candidate will be required to appear in one, two or three papers, as the case may be.

FOR THE POST OF STATISTICAL INVESTIGATORS GR.II & COMPILERS, THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THREE PAPERS AS UNDER:
For the post of Sub-Inspector in Central Police Organisations, the Examination will consist of o one paper as under:
1. The Commission will have the full discretion to fix separate minimum qualifying marks in each of the papers and in the aggregate of all the papers separately for each category of candidates (viz. SC/ST/OBC/PH/ECS/General (UR) ). Only those candidates who qualify in all the papers as well as in the aggregate would be eligible to be considered for being called for the Personality Test/ Interview and/or Skill Test.
2. There will be a different set of Questions for the papers on Arithmetic & General Studies for Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates which shall not
haveanycomponentofMap/Graphs/StatisticalData/
Diagrams/Figures/Geometrical problems/Pie-chart etc. However, components of other papers will be the same as that for general candidates.

TIER-II OF THE EXAMINATION :
Paper-I: Arithmetic Ability: This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental Arithmetical Operations, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Average, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Use of Table and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, etc.
Paper-II: English Language & Comprehension: Questions in this components will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on error recognition, fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles, etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases, and Idiomatic use of Words, etc. There will be a question on passages and comprehension of passages also. (The standard of the questions will be of 10+2 level).
Paper-III: Commerce/Mathematics/Statistics/Economics for Investigator Grade-II, for Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation and Compiler for Registrar General of India, Ministry of Home Affairs. (?)

D. COMMERCE
This paper will cover all the subjects of commerce ordinarily taught at the B.Com. or similar degree courses of
Indian Universities. Specifically, it will include the following subjects:
Accountancy: Conceptual framework, Income measurement, Final accounts, Accounting for partnership firms,
Hire-purchase accounting, Corporate accounting ( Issue, forfeiture and re-issue of shares ).
Business Organisation: Business objectives, Business environment, Business entrepreneurship ( including location, choice of form of business and growth strategies ),
Business operations including finance, production, marketing and human resource development.
Management: Concept of management, Planning, Organising, Leading and Controlling.
Micro-economics: Price-mechanism, Theory of consumer behaviour, Elasticity of demand, Production function, Theory of costs, Market structures, Price-determination under perfect competition and monopoly.
Indian Economics: Issues involved in planning for economic development, Sectoral analysis of Indian economy including agriculture, industry and foreign trade.
Business Statistics: Analysis of Univariate data involving measurement of Central tendency and dispersion, correlation and regression analysis, index numbers, analysis of time-series, Theory of probability.
Business Law: Indian Contract Act, 1872, Sale of Goods Act, 1930, Partnership Act, 1932 and Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
Company Law: Kinds of companies, matters involving incorporation of company, shares and share capital and matters relating to issue and transfers of shares, members of a company, management of a company, meetings and resolutions, winding up of a company.
Cost accounting: Procedures involved in cost accounting, marginal costing, cost-volume-profit analysis, Budgetary control, Standard costing.
Auditing: Meaning and objects of auditing, Types of audit, Audit process.
Income Tax: Basic concepts, Residence and tax liability, heads of income.
NOTE - 1: In Numerical Aptitude paper for Visually Handicapped candidates of 40% and above visual disability and opting for SCRIBE there will not be any component of Map/ Graphs/Statistical Data/ Diagrams/Figures/Geometrical problems.
NOTE - 2: The Commission shall have the discretion to fix different minimum qualifying standards in each subject of the Tier-I Examination taking into consideration among others, category-wise vacancies and category-wise number of candidates. Only those candidates, who have scored above the
NOTE:3 Tier-I will be used to screen the candidates for appearing in Tier-II for various papers which will be specifically required for different groups of posts. However, marks of such screened candidates in Tier-I will be taken into account for final ranking of candidates for selecting them for the interview and also final selection.

SSC CGL Tier 2 cut off is derived on the basis of marks obtained by a candidate in Paper 1 (Quantitative Ability) and Paper 2 (English Language & Comprehension). While for the post of Statistical Investigator and Assistant Audit Officer (AAO), total marks obtained in Paper 3 & 4 are also considered.
